How to Get Clear Skin

How to get clear skin is something I’ve asked myself many times. However, I’ve found that clear, beautiful skin is something that nearly everyone can achieve. Our skin is affected by our:

  • Genetics:
  • if your parents were prone to acne breakouts, chances are, you are too

  • Nutrition:
  • what we take into our bodies affects our skin-water can help to clarify skin

  • Emotional health:
  • emotions like stress can cause breakouts

...and of course, how we take care of our skin is extremely important!

    Clear Skin Tips

While we cannot change our genetic makeup, we can at the very least improve our skin by making it look and feel the best we can.

    1. Cleansing

Cleansing with the right face cleanser meant for your type of skin is very important. This should be done in the morning and at night to remove pore-clogging dirt.

If you do not cleanse your skin on a daily basis you can find yourself developing acne and blackheads, which are developed as bacteria and oil remain on your skin.

On the other hand, if you cleanse too often, you could be stripping away essential oils from your skin, you could start to develop symptoms of dry skin or even eczema. You should really get to know your skin type (normal, dry, oily or combination) and use a cleanser that is specifically made for it.

Always remember to rinse your face with warm water after using a cleanser, as any residue will remain on the skin if not completely rinsed away. Do not use hot water as that will damage sensitive skin!

Do not use regular soap on your skin. You know the 'tight' feeling after washing your fact with soap? Soap is very drying on facial skin and will wash away essential oils that are good for your skin.

    2. Toning

The second step for how to get clear skin is to tone. Toners remove any last traces of cleanser, while also helping to refine pores and remove dead skin cells. After toning your skin it should feel and look refreshed. Again, you will need to use a toner that matches your skin type.

    3. Moisturizing

Lastly, apply a good moisturizer to help restore the moisture loss caused by the effects of sunlight, the wind, cold and the environment. I would recommend a moisturizer with sunscreen to protect your skin from the damaging UVA and UVB rays of the sun. The type of moisturizer to use is dependent, once again, on your skin type. If you have dry skin, you may want to opt for a thicker cream moisturizer while those with oily skin may choose a lighter lotion. At night, you should also moisturize, as this is when your skin more readily absorbs moisture. The cells in the epidermis need water so that they will not shrivel up and dry up. A moisturizer can also protect the skin by providing a barrier between the skin and the external environment.

**If you seriously want great skin and want to avoid early signs of aging, protect your skin from the environment. Definitely wear a hat and good quality sunscreen when out in the sunshine.**

These are just the basic steps everyone, men and women should follow if they want to achieve a clearer complexion.

Okay, so now you know all about how to get clear skin..... but what types of products should you use???
