The Skin Care Industry Exposed!

The skin care industry has us fooled.

As we browse the aisles of our local drug store or supermarket, we scan the hundreds of skin care products for sale, looking for the latest product that promises to be "new and improved." We, like most consumers, are instantly intrigued because we KNOW we've found just what we've been looking for- and because it contains the latest, most modern day technology, this product MUST be the answer to our problem!

We also assume that because it is so easily accessible, sold over-the-counter and located conveniently on the middle shelf at our local drug store, that it is targeted for anyone to buy and therefore is safe for anyone to use.

fda approvals But when we try the product out, we find that our assumptions were wrong. We get one of the following results:

~ Either we see no visible results to our problem, even after spending much of our hard-earned money on multiple purchases of this product

~ Or, it aggravates our problem, causing redness, irritation, rash, an allergic reaction or even worse!

So the question is, how can the skin care industry claim to provide good results when you've just tried the product, and it obviously DOESN'T?

I can't tell you how many times I've tried a "new and improved" product". From Neutrogena to Proactive to Clinique, I was desperate to find that one line that would give me the clear skin I wanted. Unfortunately, though, as I've found out, the Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) very loosly regulates the cosmetics and skin care industry, and companies can put in whatever ingredients they deem fit to "solve" your specific skin problem. Many people don't know this. And while some of these ingredients are questionable, and we have no idea what some ingredients like glycolic and retinoic acids are, we still believe it must be safe. The little that the FDA is involved with the personal care industry is an absolute joke.

The FDA does not regulate how products are advertised, either, meaning these companies can make just about any claim they want about their latest and greatest product. For example, we see these commercials showing a beautiful model in an advertisement for a new anti-aging serum, which "targets your fine lines and wrinkles to make you look years younger." We immediately can't take our eyes off of her, and in amazement we think that since it obviously worked for her, then it just might work for us too... right?

Of course, we don't realize that the model probably has on tons of make-up, being that she's on T.V. and all, plus...

...she's probably about 20 years younger than us!!!
